well cost of reactants has no effect on if it's the limiting or the excess reactant. maybe you have Mg and S and and Mg is the limiting reactant. maybe Mg is cheaper but it's still your limiting reactant. Perhaps the companies that facilitate those reactants understand which one is the limiting reactant and jack the price up compared to the excess reactant but i dont think that it has any bearing on cost otherwise.
