Can somebody PLEASE explain this? Which quantity is same for one mole of ethanol and one mole of ethane? a)mass b)number of atoms c)number of molecules d)volume at r.t.p

OpenStudy (jfraser):

if it were 1 dozen elephants and 1 dozen eggs, which would be the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know 1 mole contains 6.02x10^23 particles. But I don't understand whether particles refer to atoms or molecules in this problem. @JFraser

OpenStudy (jfraser):

both ethanol and ethane are molecules made up of different individual atoms. Look all you want, and you won't find "ethanol" or "ethane" on the periodic table, so they can't be atoms.

c

OpenStudy (jfraser):

has to be C
