A cylinder is inscribed in a cube. If the edge of the cube is 3" long, find the volume of the cylinder in terms of pi. volume= PIr^2h

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pi (1.5)^2 (3)

But how do you get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

inscribed means that the top and bottm fo the cylinder will be in the same palne as the top and bottom of the cube and that the circular top and bottom will be tangent to the top and bottom of the cube at 4 points each. so the length of the cube wiil be the diameter of the cylinder and 1/2 d = r
