Atomic size increases as you move from left to right across a period of elements. True False

OpenStudy (anonymous):

False. Atomic radii decrease across the periodic table, as nuclear charge increases whilst the number of shells stays constant, (hence shielding effect and distance from the nucleus stay constant) Therefore atomic size also decreases.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as you move across the period the atomic radius decreases. Effective Nuclear Charge Increases which causes a greater Attraction Between Protons and electrons.
