u On balancing the below equation using the oxidation number method add all of the reactant and product coefficients in the final balanced equation. [Example: 2H2 + (1)O2 = 2H2O ……….. 2+1+2=5] The sum of the coefficients for this reaction is ____. That came off of my most recent chem test. it confused me to no end.

Oxidation nos on the left are 0 for oxygen and zero for hydrogen: total 0 Oxidation nos on the right are +I for hydrogen and -II for oxygen, total is 2(2x(+I)+(-II)) = 0 as well.
