"Edit post" option please. That is, the repliers or people who answer the question are able to edit their response. But, I think the question asker should be allowed to see a "history" of the previous responses so they can see what changed from the edited post.
I like this idea, and I don't think that a "history" is necessary, but a note that a post had been edited would be a good idea.
So what I mean by history of replies is, suppose I replied to a question and said: "Ok wait" then, without having to post another reply, I could edit this to: "Alright, so this is how I would do this...... blah blah" To ensure that the question asker is not confused, he gets to see the previous text. Makes sense?
There was once an Edit Answer option. It was nice while it lasted but some people abused it. They would break the code of conduct somehow - be nasty, tell someone they only wanted an answer, whatever - then edit question, replace the entire post with a space or something OK and it was really tough to moderate.
@blues I said "But, I think the question asker should be allowed to see a "history" of the previous responses so they can see what changed from the edited post. "
Hmm interesting idea. Would regular users be able to see this history? That could cause concerns; People edit for a reason. I like the idea of just showing an indicator that the question was edited (perhaps after 2 minutes of posting).
The opening poster gets to decide who gets to see history.
I feel like we're talking about two different things. Question editing is already present. Editing replies probably won't happen anytime soon. We view the replies as a conversation in chat form, so you can correct earlier posts later. Having edits/edit history would complicate the UI and the code without much benefit compared to the current model.
