v(t)=t^2-2t-8, [1,6] Find (a) the displacement and (b) the distance traveled by the particle during the given timeinterval.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[a) \int\limits_{1}^{6}t ^{2}-2t-8dt\] \[b) \int\limits_{a}^{b}t ^{2}-2t-8dt (a,b)\in[1,6]\]

i don understand the reply >_< im still taking calc 1. what i got for a) is displacement= -3.333, and b) distance traveled= 32.666. can you help me check the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think for displacement, the integral that vmontalvo put up is good. for part b, the integrand should be the absolute value of the integrand, from 1 to 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both your answers are correct

thanks everyone =]
