Use a graphing utility to sketch the curve represented by the parametric equations (indicate the direction of the curve). Then eliminate the parameter and write the corresponding rectangular equation whose graph represents the curve. x = 4 + 2cos theta and y = -1 + 2sin theta
just type in parametric grapher/ plotter to graph in parametric form
I think a way to eliminate parameter is to solve for theta in your x equation then plug that into y
y = -1 + 2sin (the theta you solved for equation x)
how do you get rid of the sin/cos
use arcsin arccos....
theta in terms of x is arccos((1/2)*x-2)
I get this -1+2*sin*arccos((1/2)*x-2)
-1+sqrt(-12-x^2+8*x)
thank you :D
-1+sqrt(-12-x^2+8*x) graph it and compare it to the parametric graph they should be same
