A gas mixture contains the following gases with the mole fractions indicated: NH3 (0.214), Cl2 (0.452), NH2Cl (0.118), and N2 (0.175). The mixture contains HCl gas. What is the mole fraction of HCl gas?

ok mole fraction is just out of 100% or 1.00 so what you do is add all of the individual fractions up .214+.452+.118+.175=.959 *note this is not 1.00 ; the missing amount is the amount of HCL* so subtract .959 from 1.00 1.00-.959=.041 is the mole fraction of HCl gas
