When balancing an equation, you must make sure that a. the number of atoms for each element are the same on the product side and the reactant side b.the products have more atoms than the reactants c. the reactants have more atoms than the products d.the coefficients are all the same number

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

the number of atoms for each element are the same on the product side and the reactant side

The answer could have been worded better though. The bottom line is that when you balance an equation, all of the atoms must be accounted for. So if you have 8 total hydrogen atoms on one side, the other side must also contain 8 total hydrogen atoms.
