Darlene kicks a soccer ball off the ground and in the air with an initial velocity of 34 feet per second. Using the formula H(t) = -16t2 + vt + s, what is the maximum height the soccer ball reaches? Answer 17.7 feet 18.1 feet 19.3 feet 20.2 feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you know calc just take the derivative of H(t) wrt and set it to zero that is H'(t)=0

I think your v will be 34 and you s 0

if you dont know calce then set h(t) to zero -16t2 + 34t=0 Solve for t from this you can easily calculate how long the ball was in the air for. take half the time the ball was in the air call it ht for hangtime ht/2 and plug it back into your equations -16(ht/2)2 + 34(ht/2)
