If the [H+] in a solution is 1 × 10–1 mol/L, what is the [OH–]? Show your work.

OpenStudy (btaylor):

By the reaction for the dissociation of water (H2O --> H+ + OH-), and the value of Kw (1.0 x 10^-14), we know that: [H+][OH-]=1.0 x 10^-14 If [H+] = 1.0 x 10^-1, then [OH-] = Kw / [H+]. Therefore, [OH-] = 1.0 x 10^-13
