5x3 + 6x + 8 by x + 2 use synthetic division

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

Hi tjdenerson :) Welcome again :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

First we have to separate coefficients of the polynomial like this. \[\large 5x^3+0x^2+6x+8\] separate coeffiecients \[\large 5 \space0\space6\space\text{and}\space8\] As you can see x^2 term in the question was missing. So I have added it with 0 coefficient. Right?

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

Now as we have given x+2 as a factor to divide with So x+2=0 from here x=-2 Now we have -2 by which we will divide.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that wasnt one of my choices did u use synthetic dicicion

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

Yes I am using synthetic division. In this division we have to divide with coefficients of polynimial not with the actual polynomial.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ....thanks beautiful

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

So should I continue?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah
