find the marginal revenue and marginal profit functions C(x)= 4x; R(x)= 8x-0.001x^2

OpenStudy (radar):

I believe differentiation is the method used.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please show how answer is found

OpenStudy (radar):

C'=4

OpenStudy (radar):

Differentiate 4x. That is the step.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have that thats the marginal cost I need marginal revenue and profit

OpenStudy (radar):

do something similar to the revenue function.

OpenStudy (radar):

R'=8-.002x Marginal revenue

OpenStudy (radar):

Yes that was C' or marginal cost I see now they did not ask for that. sorry lol.

OpenStudy (radar):

Marginal Profits. First calculate the profit function.R(x) - C(x) to get P(x) then differentiate for marginal profit.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can I see how to get the answer

OpenStudy (radar):

P(x)=8x-.001x^2-4x=4x-.001x^2 P'(x) = -.002x+4 or 4-.002x

OpenStudy (radar):

I believe you would get the same answer if you would of used: P'=R' - C'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The marginal revenue is 8-x/500 is the correct answer the marginal revuenue how do I get that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can anyone help me
