for \(\large \frac{x^2}{2^2}+\frac{y^2}{4^2}=1 \) center (0,0) a=4 b=2 c^2=a^2-b^2=16-4=12 ---> c=\(\large 2\sqrt{3} \)

vertically elongated ellipse so you'll add/subtract "a" to the y coordinate of the center to get your vertices do the same for the foci using "c"
