I'm looking for a defintion of classical mechanics that I've seen once; it went something like: "A set of something in R^4 making bodies act in some way". As you can see, I don't remember much of it, but hopefully you will be able to guess what it is.

forget about that.. read this ..I think this will be helpful to you.. In physics, classical mechanics is one of the two major sub-fields of mechanics, which is concerned with the set of physical laws describing the motion of bodies under the action of a system of forces.

Classical mechanics describes the motion of macroscopic objects, from projectiles to parts of machinery, as well as astronomical objects, such as spacecraft, planets, stars, and galaxies. Besides this, many specializations within the subject deal with gases, liquids, solids, and other specific sub-topics.

And incidentally, I've just found it. It was: "Curves in R4 minimizing the Newtonian action." So my memory of that wasn't very good. Thanks for your time anyway.
