Aw, well that's sad. Let me tell you! =D That is a "square root" symbol, and it is the opposite of squaring. (Let me remind you, squaring is multiplying by itself." So, if I square that whole thing, it undoes the square root, the same way adding 2 would undo subtracting 2 or multiplying by 2 would undo division by 2. So! We can square both sides to get rid of the square root symbol.
