Identify the main intermolecular attraction in the following molecule:

OpenStudy (goformit100):

isin the central atom of CARBON

OpenStudy (lasttccasey):

what?

OpenStudy (lasttccasey):

Is this dipole-dipole, hydrogen bonding, or ion dipole?

OpenStudy (goformit100):

its only on c

OpenStudy (lasttccasey):

Thats not an option.. it has to be one of the three mentioned above.

OpenStudy (goformit100):

dipole-dipole

OpenStudy (goformit100):

@Itz_U_Girl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

id say hydrogen bonding cause you have OH group and other O on compound

OpenStudy (lasttccasey):

Okay, questions just threw me off with the "main" word. It has both plus London of course but Hydrogen bonding would be dominate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes id say that hydrogen bonding would be dominate cause it is stronger than london forces

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dipole dipole, hydrogen bonding only occurs with strong electron negative molecules such as Nitrogen, oxygen and fluorine,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Plus central atom is Carbon so it's dipole dipole

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and you dont see OH groups and O which definetley make hydrogen bonds?!
