Function and graph question, please see the drawing for graph:
Please see attachment for question, with the graph...
1 and 3 correct ??
Please explain...
3 bcz as a=0 the line is a straight line it is of form y=mx+c
Ok, and why I, and why not II?
graph 1 is a curve .substituting the values of a,b,c we get a curve it can be written as f(x)=y=(x^2-6x+9)-(4) i.e y=(x-3)^2-(2)^2
it is of form y=p^2-q^2
ok, and why is II incorrect?
because c = 5 as in the graph c is passing from -ve y-axis
umm so?
how does it invalidate the graph?
i think it's D
|dw:1340184791241:dw| 2 shud be smthin like that...excuse my poor drawing
1) c=5 for all cases => Setting x=0 you should have y = 5. This eliminates the second graph II. 2) Graph III is linear because a=0. For y = 0 you should have x = 5/6. Your uploaded graph is a bit blurred i can't see if this holds. 3) For graph I you should have y = 0 for x = 1 and x = 5, so I is correct. Looks like I and III are ok.
Thanks dan. :)
