NaC2H3O2 + HNO3 ----> NaNO3 + HC2H3O2 For the left side, No. of Na = 1 No. of C = 2 No. of H = 3+1 = 4 No. of O = 2 + 3 = 5 No. of N = 1 For the right side, No. of Na = 1 No. of C = 2 No. of H = 1+3 = 4 No. of O = 3+ 2 = 5 No. of N = 1 Then consider the charge of both sides NaC2H3O2 + HNO3 ----> NaNO3 + HC2H3O2 0 0 0 0 For LHS, total charge = 0+0 = 0 For RHS, total charge = 0+0 = 0 LHS = RHS No. of different atom remains the same + charge are balanced => balanced C2H3O2- + H+ ----> HC2H3O2 charge: -1 +1 0 Total charge of LHS = -1+1 =0 Total charge of RHS = 0 = LHS For LHS No. of H atom = 3+1 = 4 No. of C atom = 2 No. of O atom = 2 For RHS No. of H atom = 1+3 = 4 No. of C atom = 2 No. of O atom = 2 No. of different atom remains the same + charge are balanced => balanced So, for 1, they are balanced. @Callisto I appreciate your concern about how I balance my equations but I am comfortable with what I have and do, and I am talking about net ionic equations, I need someone to check if they are correct.

@bronzegoddess Well, seems I've misunderstood your question. But please make the equations clear first. For example, I believe that ''NaC2H3O2 + HNO3 ----> NaNO3 + HC2H3O2 C2H3O2- + H+ ----> HC2H3O2'' are two equations while they are actually NOT separated. It's hard to follow.

2 is wrong, 3 is wrong, 4 should be okay. Still checking 1. BTW, please include the state of the substances.

For (2), the salt you've chosen is soluble. Instead, PbSO4 is insoluble. For (3) the S is 2-, not + , Cu should be of a charge 2+
