OpenStudy (moongazer):

This contains chemistry but still has Math. 1.) Calculate the density of Mercury (Hg) if 1.00 x 10^2 g occupies a volume of 7.36 cm^3. 2.) Calculate the mass of 65.0 g of Hg. 3.) A student needs 15.0 g ethanol (ethyl alcohol) for an experiment. The density of the alcohol is 0.789 g/mL. How many mL of alcohol are needed?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

physics actually,

OpenStudy (moongazer):

do you know how to solve this? this is from my Chemistry subject. :) could you teach me? :)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

density has is of mass per volume \[\rho=\frac{m}{V}\]

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

\[m=1.00 \times 10^2 \left[\text g \right]\]\[V=7.36 \left[\text{cm}^3\right]\]

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

question 2.) is confusing , You do not need to calculate the mass of \(65.0\text g\) of Hg because it is \(65.0\text g\) .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

chemistry chapter name is liquids...lolz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2. ansr 65 cm^3 x 13.6 g / cm^3 = 884 g

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i once tried to undertand why Hg is a liquid under STP, the reason is hard to understand. , what did you get for 1.)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

well the units in the question were not like that for 2.)

OpenStudy (moongazer):

I got 13.59 g/cm^3 for 1.

OpenStudy (moongazer):

maybe the question for no. 2 is incomplete

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bt my ansr is true for secnd

OpenStudy (moongazer):

why did you make it 65 cm^3 although it is written in grams? @KRAZZy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u question is wrong ......

OpenStudy (moongazer):

maybe I copied it wrongly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah u ask to find mass and mass is also given:D

OpenStudy (moongazer):

My answer for 3.) is 19.01

OpenStudy (moongazer):

mL

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

good question two should be 2.) Calculate the mass of 65.0 cm^3 of Hg.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes this is right @UnkleRhaukus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes @moongazer 19.0 is ryt ansr
