OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

arrange in increasing ionic radius: \(K^+, P^{3-}, S^{2-}, CL^{-}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think this could help you: http://boomeria.org/chemlectures/textass2/table10-9.jpg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is: K+<Cl-<S2-<P3-

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

so positive charge is less than a negative charge? and we also look at the numbers instead of whether it's positive or negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so positive means that it released electrons so if he releases electrons its core contract electrons cause there is more positive charge than negative hence greater force attracts remaining electrons, same logic with negative, negative menas they gained electrons so their core positive charge is less than negative so there is lesser force which gathers electrons...

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

ohhh makes sense thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to know electron configuration also cause take a look at transition elements where you can see that radii gets smaller to right and then jumps to greater radii that's cause of electron configuration...

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

but when determining the radius for isoelectronic you just look at charge right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that's right
