can someone please explain to me why the critical value for the 99% confidence level with n-1=34 degrees of freedom is equal to 2.728?
do you not believe your t table?
i'm just confused as to how the critical value is 2.728. how do you find it on the t table? because that particular number is not listed
does your table have a column for confidence intervals or just one and two tails?
it lists the confidence levels on the bottom, on the top it lists one tail and two tail, and on the sides it list degrees of freedom
and it doesn't have 34 as one of the degree of freedom listed
ah...well that is a problem. You need a better table or use a calculator or computer the get the 2.728
can you tell me step by step how to find it on the calculator? i tried googling it but it hasn't given me that #
depends on what calculator you have
i have the ti84 plus
there is a list of distributions somewhere in the calculator...can you find those?
yes
you see the inverse t distribution?
yes
good..use that function
use .995 and 34 d.f.
i got it! thank you so much!!
np
you understand why we use .995 and not .99?
actually.. no. why do we use that instead of .99?
