it comes from the fact that if you have a functions f(x) f(x)+n means move up by n f(x+n) meand move left. If you want to move right then it is -n f(x+n)+m is the combo of shifting up and down

your function is f(x)=y = 5^x so f(x-3)+5 is 5^(x – 3) + 5 f(x-3) means plug in x-3 to every x you see in 5^x so it becomes 5^(x-3) f(x)+5 mean it goes outside the the 5^x so (5^x)+5 put it all together and it is 5^(x – 3) + 5
