cameron is replacing the roof on a gazebo. the roof is in the shape of a cone with an open bottom. the diameter is 12 feet and the slant height is 8 feet. What is the lateral area of the roof? use 3.14 for pie

Total surface of cone with a base = (pi)r^2 + (pi)rL , where r is the radius and L is the slant height of the cone. The lateral area is the total area minus the area of the base, i.e the top of the cone. So in this case, just use (pi)rL to solve the problem since there isn't a base anyway. r = 12/2 = 6 Lateral area = (3.14) x 6 x 8 = 150.72sqft Hope you understand my explanation
