we cant tell that expression from the way you wrote it, type it as you book does, just use ^ for exponents like 2*2 = 2^2

ok in dividing like bases the base stays the same, right? and subtract the exponents when dividing

(36h^15*k^12)/(9h^3*k) = 36/9 * h^15/h^3 * k^2/k = 4 * h^(15-3)*k^(2-1) = 4*h^(12) * k^1

are you separating the h and it's exponent 15? i know that equals two but still having trouble visualizing this

only one is squared but k^2/k = k^2/k^1 = k^(2-1) = k

im confused by the question a^15/a^3 = a^(15-3) = a^12

and i have to divide the like bases ans simplify by subtracting the exponents if you didn't understand the question how did ya come up with an answer?

oh yeah i tend to have that affect on people i figured it out just had to draw it myself, so are ya like a math teacher or how does this site work? random people create profiles and answer homework questions

And thanks for the help, hope it's right lol you resemble the math type, I'm capable of pretty much anything else, literature and english are my strong suits, history/social studies. I'm taking basic algebra in college and it still sucks this question was extra credit he give us on thursday. I'm in the lpn program, second year this is only course holding me back...that I haven't yet mastered..lol
