You turn a dial for adjust the temperature. This dial acts as a heating a cooling thermometer and is dependent on what you have you dial set on. When this dial is set to a certain temperature it sends energy to coils found at the bottom of the oven. The energy heats up these coils depending on what the dial is set on. The bottom coils cook your food. The top coils are not dependent on the dial, but these coils will heat to their maximum temperature as long as the oven is on. Depending on what type of oven you have. Some ovens have the top coil dependent on the bottom coil temperature with a pre-set outcome. So basically when the bottom coil heats up to y, the top one will correspond and heat up to, x. Older ovens don't have this function and they just heat to maximum temperature and only cool down(or lose energy,) when you turn the stove off. - Regards, Compassionate.
