Solve the first part... y + 6 > 4 y + 6-6 > 4-6 ... Subtract 6 from both sides. y > -2 .... Combine like terms. So you have the first part correct ------------------------------------------------------- Then solve the next part y+6<-4 y+6-6 <-4 - 6... Subtract 6 from both sides. y < -10 ... Combine like terms.

So if |y+6|>4 then y+6>4 or y+6<-4 which means y > -2 or y < -10
