Alice is designing a book shelf. The segment LQ represents the base of the book shelf. Alice wants to construct a line to represent a rack passing through R and parallel to side LQ. She uses a straightedge and compass to complete some steps of the construction as shown. Pic http://oi50.tinypic.com/2mhzjtf.jpg ANSWERS BELOW.
Which of these is likely to be her next step in constructing the rack parallel to LQ? Place the compass at S and adjust its width to point P. Without changing the width of the compass, fix the compass at P and draw an arc. Without changing the width of the compass, place the compass at S or P and draw an arc similar to the one drawn. Place the compass at N and adjust the width to a length that is greater than the length of segment NS.
Steps to construct a paralell line: 1) Draw an arc with center N and radius NP. 2) Draw another arc at R with same radius NP. 3) Measure the length PS with compass 4) Draw an arc at T with radius PS. Lets this arc cuts arc RT at X. 5) Join RX with a line
Find out your self..:)
@ganeshie8 what do you think this one would be?
please help. @ganeshie8
easy, parallel line construction
next step wud be to open the compass to width of SP
Place the compass at S and adjust its width to point P.
A
yes
I was going to ask if it was that but didn't want to make the wrong choice
BTW the constructions you guided me through, I got 100% I did all my justifications correct. :D
im sure you would have figured this out by yourself :D
wow ! congrats i knw you're brilliant xD
It was all you!!!!
lol ty :) you're a brilliant student :)
