when you add numbers (or letters) with exponents, you leave the exponents alone. You only touch them when multiplying and dividing. When adding you just add the numbers (the base) together. but the catch is you can only add numbers with exponents if they are alike. Meaning you cant add b^2 + b^3 because they are not like terms. if it was b^3 + 2b^3 then you could add (because they are like terms they have the same exponent and you can add together the b's. so the answer to that would be 3b^3 With that said: \[2a^2 + b^2 + b^3\] That is your answer.
actually you can simplify it further
Okay. Thank you. That was option C on my test. :)
\[2a ^{2} + b ^{2}(1+b)\]
That is not an option
