Please help Which of the following is an example of a compound having a complex ion containing a Transition Metal? (a) Na[Sb(OH)6 (b) MgCl2 (c) CuSO4 (d) [Ni(OH2)6]Cl2

OpenStudy (nottim):

well, first off, what do we know has a transition metal (HINT: Use dem periodice table)

OpenStudy (nottim):

Next, what is a complex ion, and what is a compound (answer not so obvious when I first learnt it).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C & D has transition metals

OpenStudy (nottim):

awesome.

OpenStudy (nottim):

woops

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it i thought it was a mettaloid

OpenStudy (nottim):

u rite. srry ok, now which is a complex ion AND a compound?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i dnt know wat complex ion is but i do know they are all SO4 is a compound

OpenStudy (nottim):

eh...maybe lookit up...(i dunno what it is either...)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k 10nks anyways

OpenStudy (nottim):

err..that all you needed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i sudgest you to read ligand field theory and VSEPR theory to get the feel of complex molecules, and then i believe you will see the answer right away ;)
