If you drop a 25 gram piece of metal that has a temperature of 100° Celsius into 1000 grams of water at 20°Celsius, what best describes what would occur? The temperature lost by the metal will equal the temperature gained by the water. The heat lost by the metal will equal the heat gained by the water. The final temperature will be 60°Celsius. The final temperature will be more than 60°Celsius.

Well the heat lost by the metal will equal the heat gained by the water.In order to find the value of the final temperature,the specific heat capacity of the metal is required. If you have the specific heat capacity of the metal,use this equation and solve for T plugging in S: (25)*(100-T)*S=(1000)*(T-20)*(4.2) Where S is the specific heat capacity of the metal in Joules/kelvin/gram.
