a Co. determines that its total profit is given by the function P(x)==4x^2+804x=8360. the Co. makes a profit for those nonegative values of x for which P(x)>0 The Co. loses money for those nonnegative values of x for which P(x)<0. find the values of x for which the company makes profit and loses money.

I think you need to find the vertex

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(x)=-4x^2 *

Graphically speaking the point where you the company makes money and loses money is the point where if you go to the right or the left you will gains or lose money so for the last sentence you need to find the vertex. Do you know how to find it?

by quadric???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually yes I think you are right. I made a mistake. You are suppose to solve for x using the quadratic or some other method if you can. do you know how to do that?

hartnn (hartnn):

when u solve 4x^2+804x-8360=0, u get 9.91 and -210.91 means any no between these 2 numbers give negative p(x)...hence company loses money..and for every other no,company profits...
