which one has the same spatial structure as NH3, a.NO3^- b.CO4^2- c.SO3^2- d.SO3 if any one knows some tricks about knowing a compounds spatial structure, i would love to know them.

@ghazi do you know anyone who is good is chemistry?

OpenStudy (ghazi):

dude..i have no specific idea...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.. ps am a girl(goddess)

OpenStudy (ghazi):

it's so3^2- he he :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@radar please help

OpenStudy (ghazi):

see NH3 has one lone pair over it..and all the three N-H bond lie just below the plane...similarly SO3^2- has structure in which one lone pair lies above the surface

OpenStudy (ghazi):

SO3^2- has similar structure to that of NH3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, you are right but how did you know that? is there something that I can use in the future?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ghazi

OpenStudy (ghazi):

there are three bond pair and one lone pair...and due to bond pair lone pair repulsion the planar structure of it is pressed down |dw:1345893128272:dw| similarly for SO3^2-

OpenStudy (ghazi):

|dw:1345893210800:dw|
