I have a ball that is moving the -x or +x direction with net forces acting on the ballin the -x or +x direction. Consider the scenario when the ball is moving in the +x direction with increasing speed. What are the ways that net force could be acting upon the ball?

Only consider events in in the x axis. The velocity is increasing as some rate; therefore the momentum increases at the same rate, and because I can determine the net force from change in momentum over time, net force must be increasing proportionally to the change in momentum. If the velocity increases at a constant rate, then the change in momentum(s) is constant, and hence the net force is constant, i.e. the same at all time intervals. If velocity increase at a different rate, then change in momentum is increasing and hence so is the net force. What could then be happening to the ball?
There could be forces in the -x direction. Perhaps I should break down the net force on the ball for each direction via a free-body diagram....brb
