When the temperature of a metal cylinder is raised from 0.0°C to 110°C, its length increases by 0.22%. Find the percent change in density.

OpenStudy (shane_b):

\[\large V_{cylinder}=\pi r^2 L\]Since volume is directly proportional to length, increasing the length by 0.22% also increases the volume by 0.22%. \[\large density=\frac{mass}{volume}\]Since density and volume are inversely proportional, a 0.22% increase in volume will equal a 0.22% decrease in density.
