Geometry question 1. determine whether or not the given side lengths will form a right triangle or not? (figure in comments)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{41}\], 4,5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pythagorean theorem \[A^2+B^2=C^2\] if the numbers dont fit into that, then its not a right triangle remember C is the hypothenuse (longest side)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the sides \[2\sqrt{26}\] 15 and 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first is a right triangle 41=41?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2*\sqrt{26}=\sqrt{4}*\sqrt{26}=\sqrt{4*26}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have more confidence in your own abilities, and i dont have a calculator infront of me 16+25=41 so i assume so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes its 41=41, and the second one I got 121+225=10.1 so not a right triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you might want to recalculate C \[\sqrt{4*26}=\sqrt{104}\] \[\sqrt{104}^2=\pm104\] but yes it is not a right triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay, thank you
