A fireworks company has two types of rockets called Zinger 1 and Zinger 2. The polynomial gives the height in feet of Zinger 1 at t seconds after launch. The polynomial: -16t2 + 165t gives the height of Zinger 2 at t seconds after launch. If the rockets are launched at the same time and both explode 6 seconds after launch, how much higher is Zinger 2 than Zinger 1 when they explode?
Zinger 1 is missing a polynomial expression..
But all you have to do is plug 6s into both equations and simplify, then subtract the results to get the difference in heights.
zinger 1 polynomial expression is -16t^2 +150t, i plugged in 6s in both equations, simplified... I got 894 for zinger 2, and 324 for zinger 1...
A. 414 ft B. 990 ft C. 90 ft D. 324 ft
these are the answers..... What am i doing wrong??
hmmm, doublecheck the height of Zinger 2.
Looks like you didn't square the 6 in the -16(6)^2 term..
414-324.... the answer is 90.... right
Now you got it!
thanks...
