Can someone help me with this? Not many people are in the Chemistry section.. That's why I'm posting it here. A reaction will NOT occur when all the reactants and products in the ionic equation are spectator ions because no change occurs such as the formation of a precipitate or molecular compound. Which of the following combinations (as reactants) will NOT undergo chemical change when mixed? Mg(NO3)2(aq) and NaOH(aq) HCl(aq) and NaOH(aq) NaNO3(aq) and KI(aq)
@jim_thompson5910 do you know anything about chemistry? :/
It should say it in your textbook I believe. I had chemistry last year and honestly, I don't remember how to find out.
I think...NaNO3(aq) and KI(aq)
there is no reaction when no net ionic equation can be written. All the ions are spectator ions. This occurs when both reactants and products are soluble electrolytes (soluble ionic compounds, acids or bases), and their ions are all spectator ions... so what would that be?
Mg(OH)2 is insoluble in water and will ppt out after the 1st reaction..the 2nd reaction is of course between a strong alkali and strong acid...and will happen and is highly exothermic
