The GNP of a country, P billion dollars, is given by the formula (P = 1+ 0.02t + 0.05*sin0.6t ), where t is the time in year after the year 2000. At what rate is the GNP is changing in the year 2005?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

do you now how to take the derivative of this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah. \[0.02+0.03 \cos0.6t\]

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

now if t = 0 is 2000 what is the t value for 2005?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

@curiousshubham ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey i think here in first year t=1. Isn't it?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

years after 2000 so 2001 goes with t = 1 2002 goes with t = 2 ....

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

so 2005 -> t = 5 put in 5 for t in your equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

result : -0.277.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zzr0ck3r I have the answer sheet and my answer i.e. -0.27 (falling 27 million dollars per year) is not correct one.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

what answer does it give?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its: falling at 9.7 million dollars per year.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zzr0ck3r thanks a lot......
