The solubility of acetanilide in hot water (5.5 g/100 ml at 100 C) is not very great, and it has some solubility in cold water (0.53 g/100 ml at 0 C). What would be the maximum theoretical percent recovery from the crystallization of 4.0 g of acetanilide from 100 ml of water (

if I understood your question properly, you are saying there is 4g of acetanillide in 100g water, that means 4-.53=3.47g- came out out when we cooled the solution. I think then you would put it over the max which is 4.97g 3.47/4.97 * 100 =giving you roughly 70% yield. Then again I could be doing this wrong. But I'm pretty sure I interpreted this properly. These questions are always worded horribly.
