Describe what is happening in H2O. (Covalent Bonds)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

H2O is a polar molecule. Each hydrogen has only 1 electron while Oxygen has 6 valence electrons. Oxygen pulls the hydrogen atom's electrons to it. This leaves the hydrogen atoms each with a positive charge and the Oxygen atom with a negative charge creating a polar molecular. This explains a lot of water's properties like surface tension and cohesion because a group of polar water molecules are all magnetically attracted to each other.
