Please help me find the mean. 5.39, 8.35, 3.81
add the three numbers up and then divide by 3
5.85
so with every problem like this to find the mean all i am doing is adding the numbers and dividing them by how many they give me :)
true!!
yes thats right
awesome thanks for the help
you're welcome :D
Anytime!
but what does it mean to find the mode? how do i do that when they give me a set of numbers?
mode is the number that comes up most often
mode is the most repeated number within the set they gave you
19,1,17,19,3,20,5,2
so 19 then
19
19
awesome thats easy enough
yeah 19 is correct
hahahaa.true
how do i find the median?
12,8,5,6,1,10,13,11
also, there can be more than one mode for instance if there was 17,17,19,21,21 it would be 17 and 21.
oh good to know
the median is solved by putting the numbers in order from least to greatest and then finding the middle number
if theres an even amount of numbers, then find the mean of the two middle numbers.
so 1, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 so 9?
yes 9 is right :)
awesomeness haha
yeah math is hard but pretty fun sometimes
well im blonde thats all i can say haha
lol me too but im a smart blonde
btw, any more questions?
one sec let me see if there is anything more that confuses me k :)
ok
do you do online school?
yeah its hard lol what is the mean
i mean mode
the mode is what number shows up the most in the set. (didn't i already say this? oh well.) btw, i agree with you, online school is very hard.. but it gets easier as the year goes on
yeah haha i was just writing them down haha anyways yeah it does get easier but i just started a darn algebra class and i really have NO math experience
how do i find out which of the following relations is a function
um.. i think you have to look at if its a parabola like this kind of..|dw:1348077328689:dw| but not all crooked like mine :D
idk thats what i remember but also it has to start with f(x) and the x can be any variable
{(1,2), (1,3), (2,8), (3, 9)} {(1,2), (2,3), (3,4), (4,5)} {(3,-1), (2,3), (3,4), (1,7)} {(3,0), (4, -3), (6,7), (4,4)}
let me look at that one second. lol this discussion is really long
is is one of those as an answer so im confused
its asking which of the following relations is a function out of the ones i put up
yeah i know that and i looked up what a function is and its a rule that takes x and turns it into y like f(x) = y+2
wait i just remembered how to do it
oh ok weird
looks like its the 2nd one
{(1,2), (2,3), (3,4), (4,5)}
how can you tell?
just cause its in order is that why?
because the formula would be y = x + 1 and each pair follows the formula.. not because its in order though. (BTW, can you fan me?)
yes
k my 2nd fan.. and do you understand what i said about the pairs?
not really because im looking at another problem and it wouldnt be x + 1 the sets skips numbers too much ya know or is it different for each one
A. { (2, 6), (3, 9), (4, 2), (3, 6) } B. { (2, 8), (3, 6), (2, 4), (0, 2) }C. { (3, -2), (4, 7), (-2, 5), (-4, 5) } D. { (4, 7), (-2, 5), (1, 3), (-2, 1) }
its different for each one you have to look at the pattern
i would assume C at first glance but not sure yet ahah
for that one it isnt A thats for sure
yeah i see thats way off
