If y = f(x) is the basic reciprocal square power function, then y=x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, I'm guessing \[f(x) = \frac{1}{x^2} \] In that case, \[ y = x\\\frac{1}{x^2} = x\\x^3 = 1\\x=\sqrt[3]{1} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its supposed to be y=x^???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y = f(x)\\y=\frac{1}{x^2}\\y=x^{-2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried that before i posted it and it said that it was incorrect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does anyone know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you make sure you're giving us the correct problem? That should be correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it wants y=x^?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

... and you tried entering -2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i entered -2. thats what i thought the answer was, but i guess not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i keep trying it, but its not working
