is this a balanced equation? NaCH3COO + HCl --> NaCl + H(CH3COO)

|dw:1348350230931:dw| I like to just count & write how many of each element and/or compounds I have on the reactant side (the left side) and compare it to the product side (the right side) The trick I think is knowing what you should break apart and what you should not in this case the acetate is a group that stays together I know this because it is equal on both sides -- but you see how I had to break the H & Cl from the reactant side apart that is because it was not together on the other side and breaking them into there separates makes it easier to count and determine if it is balanced or not. As you can see you have exactly one of each element or compound on both the reactant and the product side so yes your equation is balanced. Heads up this is going to get more complicated so I would recommend checking out You tube tutorials/videos now there are some that can really help as you move along -- Good luck!
