what is the fifth geometric term in a sequence

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well use the general formula \[T_{n} = ar^{n -1}\] you will have n = 5, a = 1st term and r is the common ratio.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk what you are talking about

OpenStudy (anonymous):

btw, the common ratio IS 4!!!!

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... so look at the sequence 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, ..... the 1st term is 4 the common ratio is 2 if you are asked to find the 10th term using the formula \[T_{10} = 4 \times 2^{10 -1}\] if you evalute it then the 10th term would be 2048

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok so using the information you have provided... then the 5th term is \[T_{5} = a \times r^4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just plug in the formula
