When you have an infection, you often get a fever. Raising body temperature is a defense mechanism against bacteria. Like humans, bacteria also contain enzymes to perform functions essential to life. At an increased temperature, what will happen to the enzymes in the bacteria? How does this help end an infection? Why would very high fevers be threatening to human life?
