PLEASE HELP! question: a solution of hydrochloric acid has a pH of 2. how much would you have to dilute this solution to obtain a solution that has a pH of 5.

So, 2 = p[H+] = - log10(0.01) and you are looking to dilute the solution to a pH of 5 or 5 = p[H+] = -log10(0.00001). You want to dilute the solution from 0.01M to 0.00001M to give it a pH of 5.
