nineteen percent of the nitric acid was used in the experiment. if 1134 liters remained how much nitric acid had been available in the beginning? how much had been used?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Assume x is the nitric acid you had to start out. So, x is 100% or all of the nitric acid. 19% was used in the experiment so you have 81% left and we know that is 1134 litres. So set it up as a ratio and solve for x like so: 81% left over 100% is the same as 1134 litres left over x litres 81/100 = 1134/x Solve for x.
