A solution with a pH of 10 has less or more hydrogen ion concentration than PH7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

More acidic means more [H+] and less acidic (more basic) means less [H+]. pH 10 is less acidic (more basic) than neutral pH 7 so there is less [H+].

it would be a 1000 times less right . not 3 ? Because dont you add a zero or something while going down or is that up? I get a little confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're right, it's a logarithmic relationship: pH means -log[H+] and pH = 7 means \[\log_{10}(1\times10^{-7}) = 7\] so the difference between \[10^{-10}\] and \[ 10^{-7}\] is x1000

^correction: there should be a negative in that log eqn too.
